Elena S. Smith
Elena Smith emigrated from St. Petersburg, Russia and became a US citizen in 1996. She holds a PhD in linguistics and taught English, film and culture abroad and in American universities. She retired from WSU just before CoVid19 pandemic and wrote the novel “Truths and Lies” while secluded in her home. She calls her book “my CoVid survival friend.” This is Elena’s second novel. The first one, “Why Birches Are White”, was published in 2006. Elena’s passion is reading, traveling, golfing, hiking, and partying with friends and family. Writing is her way to communicate and share her life experiences, ideas and dilemmas with strangers who love to read.
